What a joy to encourage connections—with each other, with our beautiful world, and with the Lord! These connections are the inspiration and the purpose for Welcome and Wonder. My greeting cards provide gentle, creative ways to strengthen relationships. Our Grand Connections community is designed to help grandparents find simple, creative ways to form deeper connections with their grandchildren. I also share my musings about faith, life, and art in my newsletter, “Welcome and Wonder.”

Vancouver, Canada, is my home, and the majestic temperate rain forest—almost next door—brings me wonder every day and always inspires my work.  Ive been a physician and a calligrapher for over 40 years.  What a surprise—a doctor who can actually write words that are legible—and even beautiful! Watercolour, sketching, pastels, and digital art are part of my artistic endeavours, and learning Photoshop has enabled me to produce my own greeting cards. 

My husband Rob, a med school classmate, and I have Cara, our Labrador retriever, who makes home visits with me in my hospice work and encourages patients in Rob’s office.  Our Christian faith is the foundation of our lives, and we always have an open door with the kettle on for a proper cup of tea.  We have two grown children (with fantastic spouses) and 5 perfect grandchildren—ages 7 and younger—who keep us on our toes, reawaken our creativity, and fill our lives with joy. 

My experiences in life and in my medical practice have taught me some practical, grace-filled approaches to foster deeper connections, even in challenging times and situations. I hope you’ll join me as we learn together, share insights, and connect!
